Venus Williams graduates with fashion design degree

Tennis star Venus Williams can now add "college graduate" to her resume. On Thursday, December 13, 2007, Venus graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with an Associate's Degree in Fashion Design. Venus had been taking classes every year in the fall, during her break from tennis. Just last month, Venus unveiled her new clothing line "Eleven," which is currently being sold at Steve & Berry clothing stores around the United States.

Venus said that she was glad to graduate in South Florida, the place that she calls home. Her family (Father Richard, Mother Oracene, and sisters Isha, Lyndrea and Serena were all there to support her.

Very few professional tennis players have college degrees, and very few obtain a degree while at the top of the pro tennis tour. Along with graduating, Venus also received honors for "Best Sportswear Collection." Congratulations to Venus on her great accomplishment.
