It looked as though Serena was going to cruise her way into the semifinals of Berlin, after taking the first set from (13) Dinara Safina of Russia, 6:2. The match took a turn, however, as Safina, down and with nothing to lose, began to go for her shots and played some very good tennis to take the second set. In the third set both players were playing well, although Serena struggled with her first serve and made too many errors against the fighting Russian. The match went to a third set tiebreaker, and Serena lost the tiebreak 5-7 and the overal match to Dinara Safina 6:2, 1:6, (5)6:7. The loss breaks Serena's 17 match winning streak, although according to Serena, this loss only fuels the fire in her to keep training hard and turn this loss into a victory when it matters most at the Grand Slam, The French Open (Roland Garros) in a few weeks time. First, however, Serena will be competing in Rome next week. Along with Serena, Venus will also be returning to action next week in Rome. Welcome to the new WilliamsSisters.org. Same site...new format
