No doubt the first round loss at the French Open was looming in the mind of Serena today, as she stepped on the court against Barbara Zahlavova Strycova.  Nonetheless, Serena fought through today and advanced to the second round of Wimbledon, defeating Strycova in straight sets--6:2, 6:4.

She and Venus are scheduled to play their first round doubles match on Wednesday.
