Some good news to report to everyone! Queen Venus will be returning to the tennis courts, even before the new year begins.

It has been announced that Venus will play a fun exhibition match at her local country club on Monday, December 27. She will be playing the match against Brenda Schultz-McCarthy. Soon to be 40, Schultz-McCarthy holds the current record for the fastest women server in history at 130 mph, which she served in a qualifying tournament; Venus holds the record serve in a main-draw match at 129 mph. The exhibition is titled as the battle of the two fastest women servers :)

Before this announcement, it was unsure as to whether or not Venus would be healthy and ready to begin play in 2011.  Serena Williams, with a foot injury, isn't scheduled to return until March.
